Everyone i know has blogged.... peer presure.. have to write something here admist my busy work schedule. Well, have to say, in a happy mood that i am really glad that ppl were brave enough to embrace change and voted for change! For better or worse, 5 years!
There's a couple of interesting points in this election, some people claimed that race-based politics have been shattered! Well, there's more yet to be seen. Interestingly, PKR is the only 1 true multi-racial, multi religion party. And they have collectively become the largest opposition party, winning 31 seats! Yeah, this means there will be no more ppl saying " if you dun like it, you can leave!" or keris yielding threats! It's only in Malaysian politics that they can get away with this. In any other countries, any utterace of this kind will surely ensure the end of his/her public career! Finito.
As Raja Petra sums it up, "Remember, the opposition won these five states plus denied Barisan Nasional its two-thirds majority in Parliament through promises and rhetoric. The consideration of the voters the next election will no longer be based on promises and rhetoric but on performance and delivery. Many promises were made this election. Now is the time to deliver them."
2/3 majority, apparently BN just needs 8 more seats for 2/3. At this moment, i just hope that the opposition partys (PAS, DAP and PKR) can put aside their ideological differences and work together to build and grow a healthier, cleaner Malaysia. WHat i hope will not happen is internal brikerings and some MPs jumping side to the the other side.
My wish list from this new gov, well, They need to fight corruption(well, at least minimise it), clean up the judiciary, reduce crime and mat rempits, price - as long as no hike, build more schools ( for chinese, indians whatever), Have a fairer educational systems. ( i think i will be happy enough and you will have my vote the next election), i hope we still have our 2nd bridge and PORR! I am tired of jams! Maybe i am asking too much here... hehe...
New beginnings! New hope!
Back to work for me!
